Well, it looks like we are leaving Dodge just in time. The forecast is for some strong storms to be coming in this afternoon. Back home, it is 36F heading for a high of 57F, but calm - mostly cloudy, it would seem. Of course, here it is 66F heading for a high of 76F - but there are those storms to contend with. Regardless, it will be good to sleep in our own bed tonite!
Here is the morning view - gloomy! We'll be heading out to the airport here in little while. This has been a great adventure, and we got to do quite a few things, but alas, all good things come to an end, right? Anyway, I'll talk to you when we are at least headed up north!
1923 - Back in Western Mass Well, it was an interesting day, to say the least. First of all, we got to the airport, no problem. Dropped off the car, got the luggage checked in, and went thru security (my favorite part). At this point, we were pretty early (2 hours til we boarded), so we went to a bookstore, and got a couple of magazines and Carol got a book. We figured we hadn't eaten, so we went to the Burger King in the terminal, and had some breakfast. Then we went to the gate.
The first thing you noticed was that there were lots of people at the gate. It would seem that a number of flights were delayed getting in. The second thing you noticed was that it was raining outside - hard! To the point where they weren't letting planes take off. There were at least 6 planes on the taxi-way to take off (going nowhere), and this guy on the apron, waiting for room to get onto the taxi-way.
Then we got on our flight which was not completely booked. In fact, up in 1st class (thanks again, Mom!), there were only 3 of us. THe flight out was a bit bumpy. Then it got pretty bumpy. Then it got bumpier still! In fact, we had almost no clear air for the entire flight - but at least it settled down enough so they could serve lunch (I had a fajita salad - better than what I was expecting it to be - although Delta could definitely take a few lessons from American when it comes to meals!). The clouds were pretty much solid the whole trip up until one point, where it broke up for a little.
If you look closely, you can see a city - and it looks like this. After landing, we drove home - almost no snow on the ground! Yea! We took Joe to dinner at Outback Steakhouse, which for some reason was definitely not up to cruiseship standards tonite. So I guess we are now home. It was good to see Joe and Spot, and see that the house was doing just fine. Doesn't even look like there was a big party here. Of course, that might have to do with the fact that Calli cleaned today, but I am asking no questions! I just know that I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow, and maybe get a haircut - I am due! So that is pretty much the adventure! Tomorrow or this weekend I will probably do the epilogue. Until then, I hope you enjoyed the trip, and are tempted to come along on one of these trips with us! Talk soon!
Keep Smiling!!!
