During our cruises, one of our very favorite places was the island of St John, located in the US Virgin Islands. Our cruiseships would pull into St Thomas, and the first thing we would do was get off the ship, and then take another boat to go snorkeling off that gorgeous island. On one trip, we took a taxi over to Red Hook, boarded the ferry to St John, and then rented a Jeep to do a bit more in-depth exploration. The problem was that we were still tied to the cruise ships arrival and departure schedule - and it would not do to miss the cruise ship leaving (especially since the ship is often going someplace a long way, and airfare between islands is expensive!). Thus we decided that we wanted to come back and spend some real time on the island. This is going to be a fun trip. We are staying for 2 weeks, which is longer than our typical cruise! We figure we will get a really good chance to get into island mode, and know if, as I suspect, we might want to one day retire down here! So the itinerary index for this trip is going to look a little boring, but I promise, it will be worth looking into every page! Usually here I say you might want to read the previous blogs, and list all the links. But we have finally gotten enough of these things done, that I am going to put together a page that links all the travel blogs, and it can be found at www.TimethiefSports.com/Beachbum. Enjoy! So here is our itinerary for this trip (told you it would look boring!):
Obviously, there is not much in the way of a travel map to give you, but here is one of St John, to give you an idea where we are: Incidentally, I should mention that I am typing this page while sitting on a Boeing 767, cruising at 37,000 feet while listening to Jimmy Buffet singing about expatriated Americans on my new iPod Nano (thank you, Mr Alberti). Life is good. For any of you who might want to get a message out to Carol or myself, the email address is Beachbum@TimethiefSports.com. Feel free to drop me a line. No promises on if we'll actually read it, of course.... So, with that, I shall bid you a fond farewell - for this page, at least. Hopefully, you will enjoy this little travelogue. Not sure how many people will be reading it, but I enjoy writing it, so we shall see how it goes. Regardless, I am really looking forward to this little adventure. With luck, you will be able to come along for the ride. Maybe next time, you will join us, and I can include you in the Chronicles. Keep Smiling!!!
